The Marine Law Institute at the University of Maine School of Law has long been a leading resource of legal information and education for local, state and national economic development programs, marine resource managers, environmental protection agencies, and Sea Grant research and outreach teams.

• The recent revisions to the national fishing law, the Magnuson-Stevens Act, and its impact on New England fishing communities;

Recognizing that even Maine's natural resources industries will in the future embrace the innovation economy, the School of Law has moved the Marine Law Institute into the Center for Law & Innovation. The Center and MLI share a common goal of high-quality, neutral research, education and service aligned with economic development efforts and environmental sustainability.
