Law Library Associate Public Services
The Law Library Associate plays a
crucial role for the Public Services Department of the Law Library. Associates
perform circulation desk duties including the check in and out of library
materials, fielding patron inquiries and providing photocopying assistance.
Associates shelve library materials, shelf-read,
file loose-leaf materials, perform other duties as assigned and/or assist
in the interlibrary loan
department.

Specific duties may
include:
· Checking in and out of library
materials using automated system
· Performing stack maintenance which includes, learning LC classification,
shelving, shelf-reading and shifting library materials
· File loose-leaf materials
· Performing basic bibliographic searching using automated system
· Create and/or modify patron records using automated system
· Assisting patrons in locating library materials on shelves
· Assisting patrons with photocopiers and all other library equipment
· Securing library material
· Field basic computer questions
· May assist with interlibrary loan duties
· Other duties as assigned

Law Library Associate Technical Services
The Law Library Associate assists
Technical Services in the ordering, receiving and processing of all
library materials, assists in database maintenance, shelf-reading and
inventory control, and bindery preparation and receipt. Performs complex
loose-leaf filing. Files microfiche. Shelves and retrieves
library materials. Occasional clerical tasks such as invoice processing,
stamping and photocopying.
Schedule: Hours scheduled between
8 and 4:30, Monday through Friday
Reports to:
· Primarily Serials/Catalog
Librarian, Serials Assistant , Government Documents Assistant or staff
member responsible for task

· Ability to transcribe information to and from texts and computer

· Ability to handle large textbooks and manipulate individual pages
· Ability to lift and shelve books, push loaded book trucks and
lift/open boxes
· Accurate keyboarding skills
Specific duties may
include:
· Bibliographic searching in
manual and automated systems
· Inputting information to library database(s)
· Processing library materials (organizing, stamping, labeling,
etc.)
· Invoice/shipping list receipt verification
· Bindery preparation and receipt (Collecting, organizing and preparing
unbound periodicals for bindery,
fill out bindery forms manually and online, unpack, receive and process
returned bound periodicals)
· Filing including but not limited to loose-leafs, pocket parts,
supplements and microfiche
· Inventory of all categories of library materials
· Maintains organized work area to ensure careful handling of materials
· Other clerical duties as assigned
